A Culture of Respect and Kindness
Every member of our community has a responsibility to help create an environment in which others feel safe and respected.
We do not tolerate bullying, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, abuse or any form of harmful behaviour.
This includes child-on-child abuse, which can take place in person or online. All concerns are taken seriously, and appropriate action is taken in accordance with our safeguarding and behaviour policies.
We encourage students to show compassion, respect individual differences and recognise the importance of looking after one another.
Keeping safe online
The online world offers wonderful opportunities for learning, communication and creativity. However, we recognise that it also presents risks and challenges for young people.
At Coloma, we are committed to helping students become confident, responsible and discerning digital citizens.
We promote online safety through our curriculum, pastoral programme and everyday school life.Students are encouraged to understand the importance of protecting personal information, recognising inappropriate behaviour, managing their digital footprint and knowing where to seek help.
We also work with parents and carers to promote safe and responsible technology use beyond the school gates.
We encourage families to talk openly about online experiences and to report anything that causes concern.
Working together to keep children safe
Safeguarding is most effective when schools, families and professionals work together.
We maintain strong links with relevant local safeguarding services and external agencies, seeking specialist advice and support whenever necessary.
Our staff receive safeguarding and child protection training, and our procedures are reviewed regularly to reflect statutory guidance and emerging safeguarding issues.
We are committed to providing an environment where students feel confident to speak, know where to find help and trust that they will be listened to.
